President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with US President Donald Trump. President Erdoğan and Trump met after the dinner hosted by Dutch King Willem-Alexander and his wife in honor of the leaders and their spouses attending the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit held in The Hague.
The meeting was held behind closed doors at the Royal Palace. According to a statement from the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, bilateral relations between Türkiye and the US, as well as regional and global issues were discussed.
THEY CAME TOGETHER AFTER DINNER
During the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that the two countries have great potential in different areas, especially in energy and investment, and that advancing cooperation, especially in the defense industry, would facilitate the achievement of the total trade volume target of 100 billion dollars.
Erdoğan welcomed the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which was achieved through the efforts of US President Trump, expressed his hope that it would be permanent, and stressed the importance of close dialogue in ending the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza as soon as possible and in finding a peaceful solution to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
The two leaders stressed the importance of taking steps to strengthen the Alliance’s deterrent power as NATO’s leading allies.
